GPI board selects firm to conduct CEO search

Tigard-based Motus Recruiting will conduct the national search.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The search committee from the Greater Portland Inc (GPI) board of directors has selected an executive recruiting firm to conduct a national search for GPI’s next president and CEO. After interviewing four firms, the board committee selected Tigard-based Motus Recruiting. 

GPI’s new CEO will oversee the nonprofit public-private partnership, which advances regional economic development through job growth and investment in the seven-county, bi-state region. 

“We are excited to work with Motus Recruiting to find a qualified candidate to help Greater Portland Inc drive new business to our great region,” said Michelle Weisenbach, KeyBank President and Commercial Banking Sales Leader for Oregon/SW Washington and search committee chair for the GPI board of directors. “We are confident that we will find a well-vetted, talented, creative and energetic leader to bring their expertise to the organization. Our partnership with Motus will allow us to search for prospects not only within the Portland metro area, but beyond, and will ensure that we consider a diverse slate of candidates.” 

Motus has a wide range of recruiting experience, and has filled positions that require economic development leadership skills, knowledge and experience. Motus has previously conducted searches for public-private partnerships like GPI. 

The firm is well-networked in the community with diverse leadership and an equity focus. This allows it to well-represent GPI and the broader Portland community to prospective candidates. In addition, Motus is a certified Oregon MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) firm.

The search is anticipated to be completed within four months. Until a permanent CEO is hired, Cara Rene, Senior Vice President of Communications & Stakeholder Relations, will continue to serve as interim president and CEO.
